The table layout of roulette contains many different betting areas. These betting areas of the roulette table are grouped into two: inside bets and outside bets.

The following are the inside bets that can be made in roulette:

6. Five-number bet - This roulette bet is made by placing your chips on the zero sections of the table. The payout for five-number bet is 6:1.

The following are the outside bets that can be made in roulette:

1. Column bet - This roulette bet is made by placing your chips on the base of the three columns of numbers. You are betting that one of the 12 numbers listed in the column will be hit after the spin and the payout is 2:1.

2. Dozen bet - This roulette bet is made by placing your chips on the groups of 12 numbers - one to 12 (low), 12-24 (middle), and 25-36 (high). The payout for dozen bet is 2:1.

3. Even bet - This roulette bet is made by placing your chips on the following options: red or black, even or odd, and one to 18 (low) or 19-36 (high). Each of these even bets has a payout of even money, meaning 1:1.

Sometimes, casinos offer special rules for the even bets in roulette called the "la partage" and the "en prison". These two special rules of roulette gives more advantage to the players because they both lower the house edge of about 1.35% for single zero tables and 2.63% for double zero tables.

Roulette bets may be several in numbers but in its entirety, roulette is an easy game even for beginners.
